King’s Gambit Lesson 1

Like the Queen’s Gambit (d4, c4), the King’s Gambit is a variation played from the King’s opening to pressure the center of the board by sacrificing a pawn on f4. A gambit is to sacrifice one’s material for an advantage, it can be rather rapid development or positional play.
